AMD Fusion Media Explorer Beta Release Notes

Limited Beta Release: 4/7/2009

General

  • This utility is being released as a beta version and, as such, may have additional bugs or errors that are not outlined in these release notes which result in system instability, data corruption or incorrect operation of the software or computer system in which it is implemented 
  • We are looking into these issues, and new releases will be provided as available

 

Operating Systems Supported:
The following Operating Systems have been tested to work with AMD Fusion Media Explorer:
- Windows Vista® Home Premium (32-bit and 64-bit editions)
- Windows Vista® Ultimate (32-bit and 64-bit editions)

The following Operating Systems have not been tested but are believed to work with AMD Fusion Media Explorer:
- Windows Vista® Home Basic
- Windows Vista® Business
- Windows Vista® Enterprise

The following Operating Systems are not supported with AMD Fusion Media Explorer:
- Microsoft® Windows® XP (any version)
- Microsoft® Windows® Home Server
- Microsoft® Windows Server® 2003 (any version)

- Microsoft® Windows 7® Beta
- Linux®

Known Issues:
Caution: The AMD Fusion Media Explorer application has not been tested on every possible hardware combination available in the market today. Pre-release testing was performed using a variety of AMD platforms including:
- AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 dual-core processors
- AMD Phenom™ X3 processors
- AMD Phenom™ X4 processors
- AMD Phenom II™ X4 processors
- AMD 6xx and 7xx chipsets
- ATI Radeon™ 3xxx and 4xxx GPU family products

Application:
- To view live TV with a TV tuner, you will need to turn off Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) and reboot your machine

-Only analog cable (NTSC) is supported

- Occasionally the Beta version of AMD Fusion Media Explorer will crash

- Any web forms that are partially filled out will lose their data if the application crashes

- Any uploads that are in progress will abort if a crash occurs

- There are many UI glitches in the installer and the application, and we are working to clear these up as quickly as possible

- You need the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player for related online media and other software features

- Microsoft® .NET Framework Version 3.5 Service Pack 1 is required to run AMD Fusion Media Explorer

- It is recommended to apply all Microsoft® Windows® updates, including optional driver updates

Getting Started Guide

 

To help ensure a trouble-free installation, it is recommended that the following steps are completed:

First, install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 service pack 1 that can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/Net/Download.aspx.

Download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player that can be found here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Set the Windows Experience Index in the system properties. You can access this by pressing the Windows Key + Pause/Break key.

Download and install AMD Fusion Media Explorer:

·         You can download it here: http://www.amdlive.com.

·         Save the file on your hard drive, then double click the AMDFusion.exe installer.

Launch and configure AMD Fusion Media Explorer:

·         Double-click the shortcut on the desktop.

·         On the Home screen, click the Question mark and the Cog icon, and then click the Cog icon to enter the settings as follows:

o   In the Settings window, click the “Watch Folders” tab. Click the “Select…” button to select the folders that content will be loaded from. More than one folder can be selected.

o   In the Settings window click the “Facebook” tab. Click the “Get photos from these Facebook accounts:”

o   You will then be prompted for your Facebook credentials. After providing your Facebook credentials, a list of Facebook friends are displayed in the ribbon. Place an “x” next to the names of friends that you would like to see displayed.

o   Once  your changes are complete, click the “OK” button to return to the Home screen.

 

Start browsing your content

 

·         At the Home screen you will be presented tiles:  Music, Photos, Videos, Web, TV, and Web Tasks. Click the “+MORE” key in the desired tile to get started.

1.      Please visit the download page. You also can enter the settings menu, and on the General tab click the check box next to “Automatically check for software updates”.

1.      AMD Fusion Media Explorer is the next generation version of AMD LIVE! Explorer.

·         How do I see my Facebook pictures in the Photo ribbon?

1.      Open the settings dialog box and click on the Facebook tab. Select the “Get photo from these Facebook accounts” option. Type in your username and password for Facebook. Once that is done, just select the friends whose pictures you would like to display in the photo ribbon from the list.

·         How do I upload pictures to Facebook or Flickr from AMD Fusion Media Explorer?

1.      First browse to the picture that you want to upload. Click on that picture and new options will be displayed above the picture.
