I couldn't get my 2x Theatre 550 to work in Vista even with UAC disabled and rebooted.

I have Vista Home Premium, and media centre has no problem working with both cards.

Click on the video shown on the left also gives me a IE error with white background.

Video thumbnail is slow for avi files (MPEG4 like Xvid/DivX)... even on my Raid0 setup.

Not very remote friendly.

The slightly curved shape is not as cool looking as one single curve, or just basic 2D square.

Simultaneous video playback on all video clips shown would be cool, but I'm not sure what's holding it back.  IO? or GPU?

It'd be nice if AMD can release a MPEG 4 decoder... the ffdshow ones that most Vista users use seems quite slow for resolving thumbnails, which greatly affect the Media Explorer experience.

It'd also be nice if the hardware video transcode is somehow integrated to this explorer as well.

Are you using AMD LIVE! Explorer or AMD Fusion Media Explorer?

When you state "Simultaneous video playback on all video clips shown would be cool" are you using the default settings, or are you manually changing the amout of videos to play back in the ribbon?

I tried changing that default to a larger number, but performance suffer on DivX/Xvid AVI's.  The default 2 is not really that useful.

my hardware:

  • Athlon64 x2 2.4ghz
  • Radeon 4670
  • raid0 7200rpm SATA HD
  • Vista 32bit SP2

AMD Fusion Media Explorer has the ability to push a system to its limits. Many codec are still not fully optimized to play more than one video at a time. Our new quad core CPUs have more hoursepower that is able to compensate for this and can perform better.

TV funktion isn't working properly.

UAC is disabled, tried it with two DVB-T sticks (Hauppauge NOVA-T and MSI DigiVox Duo) both working fine with Vista Media Center.

But starting TV in Fusion Media Explorer (which btw. knows the channels found via Vista Media Center) results in an error:

"There was an error playing the channel you requested. Check that you can receive the channel and try it again."

And yes, I CAN receive and play all channels in Vista Media Center...

We have only tested with 600 and 650 tuner cards. We will look into that issue. Thanks for the info.

At the very top do you see the option "new topic"? If you don't see it tell me what topic you want to start and I will create it for you.

OK , found the new topic button which disappeared on the screens I was in initially....and i went into help which didn't direct you to where it is.

a simple screenshot in help would have sufficed.

After all I've to say that it's quiet funny to use FME. Maybe a little bit complicated as there are so many functions to play with but that's nothing I'd dare to complain about. It's just a lot more than I expected FME to be

Wesley, can you tell a bit more about your TV "roadmap"? Are you going to support even other tuner cards than Theater ones? Of course in that early beta we can't expect everything to work out of the box, but here in Europe it's difficult to watch either NTSC format or even to buy a Theater 6xx card.

Thank you!
