Why amd is requiring users to log in to download software on the website? I (and probably a lot more people) do not like to register on every site I encounter. This does not help to promote amd's stream processing.

I suggest you do similar to nvidias cuda download and make it available without login.

If someone wants to post on forums they may register an account, but why require it for download.

I can't post using firefox 3.5.2. The forums don't seem to recognize that I'm logged in.

When I try and login, it says I've logged in, but doesn't bring me back to the forums (where I clicked on 'login'). It seems like it has problem persisting the bit of state that acknowledges my login, which is quite frustrating.

On IE, it works fine...but I'd prefer not to use IE.

David

I want to hear from you!! We just launched a new monthly video series with the intent to get you one-on-one time with AMD's software developers talking about the latest tools and technologies that would impact the software world. Let me know what topics you'd like me to cover. I can't gaurantee that I'll be able to address all the topics proposed, but I will definitely listen and respond to as many topics as I can. What do you want to know about AMD software technologies, tools or proposals? Open64 compiler? XOP? LWP? OpenCL? DX11? The only requirement is that it has to be software developement focused and of course I can't expose any IP, so please keep your inquiries reasonable.

I hate when people volunteer me to do things, but here I am doing it to the AMD devs. (-:

In order to provide more complete support and a more professional image, why not make so-called driver installers for the unsupported legacy products, such as the older Rage products under Linux architecture. Using binary globs from developers like RetinalBurn and a nice-and-pretty installer, no major amount of development is needed. This is really geared towards Linux users, because there are many products for which good drivers exist but are almost never properly configured, such as the AGP 3D Rage or the All-In-Wonder cards supported by GATOS.

Such a program could verify that components are installed and configured correctly, run a demo graphic, and even install a Control Center for color correction, to display GLX information, and so forth.

Mostly it would give the impression of complete support, instead of leaving people unsure if their hardware is supported. What do you think?

I want to change the identifying user name that appears on the forum listings when I submit or respond to a topic. How can I do that?

Hello,

I would expect that if no users were granted access to a private message, that would be considered between me and AMD. If it were labelled draft, then it would all be private to me. Private to any member, would still and always include the moderators as well as AMD. Well, that's what I'm hoping for.

Have a nice day,
James.
