125 watt 965 BE would be nice if it would OC better lol.

If I understand right they all will over clock better than what we have now . The way they threw the 125w 965 in the read was questionable to me as well .

Would love a 965 BE 125 watt TDP.

Would buy one in 2 seconds if I knew it overclocked smoother and better then present chips.

That is what I'm counting on . I almost pulled the trigger on the 140w 965 this week with the nice price drop . Looking at a couple benchmarks from our friends tells me I should be able to run a decent one at 4.0Ghz 100% stable . But after this read I am going to wait it out .

There is no extra L3. The 8MB that fudzilla reports includes L2 (512kb+512kb+512kb+512kb) and the 6MB of L3 cache. It's just a stepping change with some power optimizations and some extra overclocking headroom.

Well, there is one reviewer that hit high OC with only air cooling.

Benchmark Reviews .com

here is a quote from the reviewer:

"Ultimately, 4.2GHz was the number for me. Yes sir, if 4200Mhz is what's for sale, then I'm buying."

Thought I would add for perspective.

When and where the heck can I get one! lol

I am looking around and talking to some of my suppliers, (newegg being one of them) and so far, the I have gleened this.

Due to the economy, many etailers will be hesitant to rush to buy the 125 watt version. They have X amount of 140 watt cpus on hand they need to unload first before buying the 1000 lot orders from AMD.

Reviews with news oc getting OCs to 4.2 on decent air cooling will push many to go for the new cpu. I was looking to get a 965 now for my personal use, but am going to wait now.

What confounds me is the MSRP of 195.00 for the new version (125 watt) and how its going to cause all etailers to cut prices and profits on the older cpu. But, thats exactly why I don't carry an inventory. lol

In the past, for instance with the 9950BE, there was a 140W version followed by a 125W version... I don't believe they listed both at one time on their website. I think at a certain point, the listing just got edited from saying it was a 140W processor to saying it was 125W. I'm NOT sure however, if they still shipped whatever 140W stock they had left. If I were to buy one of these 125W 965BE's, I would check it to make sure it was what it was advertised as, and not one of the leftover 140W ones...

It will arrive on the 12th! Once I get home from work and things get settled I will recalc my BIOS to stock CPU settings and swap them out! Then the testing begins!
