Hello,

I am planning to build my first raid, with my new 785G/SB710 chipset motherboard.

Where can i download the latest RAIDXpert software ? I can't believe its not on AMD site , or that it is so bad that I can't find it.

Is there any other software that's better for builidng and managing my RAID ?

Thanks
Gonzalo

They ARE on the AMD site. Go to GRAPHICS driver downloads: http://support.amd.com/us/gpud...oad/Pages/index.aspx.

Select your OS, Integrated/Motherboard, and your chipset.

It doesn't seem to make sense does it? It is part of the legacy of AMD's merger with ATI. Chipsets were ATI, so the chipset software is under graphics. Go figure.

The Best place to set up RAID is in the RAID manager right after your machine POSTs. You will have to install Windows anyway with the RAID drivers before the RAIDXpert will work. you have to go into BIOS and set the ide to RAID to turn on the onboard RAID manager......... The question is what RAID level are you going to run and what do you plan on having on the RAID array?

I cant find RaidXpert or drivers for SB850 anywhere at AMD site. The method mentioned in this thread finds some sort of raid driver/software but it only has sb7xx directory in it (and when the installer run, it does not suggest installing any raid software for sb850)

sorry, can't help you with that,
I do see there is a Help section in RaidExpert that explains rebuilding, I guess you have tried that already ?

Hello Overworked,

Do you mean the 'Raid Driver for Windows 7'? because it only has sb7xx driver in it. When I try to install it on sb8xx system, it just does not offer installing the raid driver or software in the selection list. (if you open it in your machine and check C:\ATI\Support\10-9_win7_32-64_raid\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv, you can see that there is only sb7xx directory there)

Do you know where is the driver and software for sb8xx?

Thanks,
Evren

I have the file
called: motherboard_driver_amd_chipset_8-series_win7.exe

when extracted it produces a file folder called, win7_chipset,
that then opens to many other folders , one is the app folder
which includes what you are looking for

I just reran the exe file I have to verify

are you trying to find Raid expert or the raid driver itself ? either way they are all included in the file I mention

I am new here , not sure if it is ok to post an exe attachment for you, but you should find the filedownload on the AMD site that I and another poster above guided you to

hope that helps

EDIT: The file I mentioned has both the 7 series and 8 series chipset/raid/raidexpert drivers and apps included

I am looking for raidxpert and the driver. I only wanted to make sure that I am using the latest releases, although the producer of my board has these as downloads. So no need to put a file really and thanks for trying to help anyway.

As I mentioned earlier, the link you (or the other poster) provided does not appear to have sb8xx drivers or raidxpert for sb8xx. I just dont understand why AMD doesnt have any downloads for this chipset which was around for a while now... ?

Is there a way to complain to AMD about this situation directly? it is strange to not be able to find drivers to their own chipsets from their own driver pages...
