does onyone know of a decent t.v tuner that is cheap. i am going to get an xbox, but i am not allowed to have a t.v in my room, according to my parents, and i don't want my brothers to use my xbox, so i need to find a cheap t.v. tuner for my comp.

LOL, playing on a technicality? Not sure on stand alone tuners, but if you want to upgrade your video card too, look into the AIW's.

You don't need a TV Tuner because an XBOX would only require a composite/RCA input. If you get a card with a TV Tuner as well as a composite/RCA input, it will cost a little more. Anyway, I had an ATI All-in-Wonder 9000 and I thought the quality was terrible. I know it was't the cable signal because the RCA looked pretty bad too. I had it RMA'd and got a new one and it looked exactly the same... Also, I think it's better to get one seperate for your video card for upgrading purposes and so it doesn't limit you.

Some TV tuners can only display and not record. Make sure it can record if you want to use it to record.

I have both a Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP Expert and an AIW 9000 Pro.

The Winfast has a lot options like extra recording formats (but don't work unless you already have the codecs) it is by far the best buget card out there. Include FM tuner but it is the ugliest skinned app around.

The AIW is far superior card. The quality is not bad like someone else mentioned (must have been his coaxial cable) The remote even controls the dvd player which is a great feature, and the remote is radio and not line of site. plus you would be upgrading your vid card at the same time. oh yeah the ATI also has an on screen tv listings feature, very cool!
