okay, AWESOME!
I got 1080i to work... not through the physical switch, that sucks, still might be broken but anyway...

HERE IS TEH QUESTION NOW: either the refresh rate is too high or too low, like right now im typing on it... images, colors, everythign like that looks stable, but the '3d effects' present even in the windows2000 scheme seem to be flickering... again, text pictures, etc fine, just horizontal lines are flickering... is it tv, or will changing refresh rate help???

powerstrip i still havent successfully figured out how to do custom resolutions, and when i select a res and click okay it does nothing to the other screen.

What you are describing I have heard a solution to by Kim Komando. On your desktop right click the desktop, choose properties. Then when that window opens choose the appearance file tab, and under there choose the effects button. In effects you will see a box that says "use the following to smooth edges" Make sure to have it set to CLEARTYPE. According to Kim komando that can take care of problems on big tvs and LCDs.
