QUOTE (Red- @ Dec 4 2003, 05:44 PM) i like mine powerfull lol
I'm with this guy. nVidia always had more power behind their cards they just never used all the "pretty" things in game.

CompUSA this week has the ATI 9800 Pro 128K that benchmarks better than the 256K version for $300.00 which I think is a very fair price for that video card.

PS: LOL - but common sense did not prevail - I bought the ATI 9800XT - LOL - I would have eventually bought HL2 anyway so only $150.00 more ;D - dollar for dollar if not inclined ot overclock the the ATI 9800 Pro 128K is a great buy at $300.00 unless you are benchmark crazy hahah !

Just installed a 9600XT here tonight... I like it thus far. My first ATI card after a slew of nVidia cards.

We'll see how it goes I guess.

Lol - I also went from nVidia to ATi - I'm pretty impressed. I think the Radeon has a slight performance advantage over the nVidia's - but anything can happen and it's not SUCH a big difference, but the 9800XT is a sure beautifil thing

I used to have mostly nVidia cards in my desktop, because I didn't trust ATi drivers. Let's be honest, ATi drivers used to be pretty bad. They haven't been AWFUL since the Rage or so, but they were bad for a while. I ended up switching to a Radeon after I saw that firing their old driver team had worked out pretty well for ATi.

By the way, on your budget, I'd go for a Radeon 9600 Pro. You can find them for about $130 online.

2x nVidia Millennium X1800 Duo (SLI mode)
12x (daisy-chained) Quantum Medalist 180GXP (w/ separate SCSI-1 adapter)

I've been in all 3 of the major camps. Started out with 3dfx, moved on to NVIDIA and now I'm with ATI. If all goes well in the spring, I will be back in the NVIDIA camp

Same here, I've dabbled in all of them but I probably won't buy another card for a while, this one should be good for another year at least.

Same here too. My first was a Verite. then 3dfx up to Voodoo2, then I went to nvidia. stayed with them til my 9700. Unless Ati's next card is a flop I think ill be sticking with Ati. nvidia would have to have something much much better to convince me to switch back.

I tell you what I would go ATI ove the Nvidia any day the ATI is the best vidio card out there . I have an ATI 9000 Radeon and it has been the best for some time now ... I see no need to upgrade at this time ! I plan to keep this vidio card till it burns out !!!
