i thought my modest 2.5ghz overclock was stable, but i just got a BSOD in BF2.
trying to figure out if it is just BF2's crappiness or is it something hours and hours of prime95 did not catch.
120mm fan over ram, 7700cu, i doubt temperatures had anything to do with it.

if it only happens once, I wouldn't pay too much trouble to it.

I would run Prime as described in your other thread for a good 6 to 8 hours to be sure it's stable. I'd also leave Memtest running overnight too.

If it's stable, and it was just once, remain at 2.5.

Prime95 tests your RAM and/or Processor and will tell you if it's absolutely stable. The way Az has got it now is he's put his processor at a speed that'll boot into Windows and lucky for him it'll play games, that doesn't mean to say the processor is absolutely stable at it's current speeds.

Its BF2 actually. Ive heared many times through different people who have said that BF2 doesnt run well on heavily overclocked machines. To some extent I agree to it, because whenever I OC my AGP card BF2 is the only game that crashes rest of the games run fine.

yeah ill try both cores but i doubt thats it... i mean, i ran memtest overnight as well.
BSOD can happen from software i hear. if this happened in something like photoshop, id be wary. but BF2 reminds me of something beta, so i think ill just dismiss it.

if anything it would most likely be a memory thing within the bf2

well i hope you dont mean the memory is bad or something
but yeah businesses and the like even get BSODs sometimes, they run time-tested software and extremely stable hardware... i have stable hardware, but BF2 is hardly what i would consider done... since nothing else crashes it, including super pi, im going to take it as BF2.
but ill probably run super pi double time later today for like 4hrs.

I second this....its BF2....it doesn't like it when my PC is massively overclocked either, I get BSOD's, even when everything else is stable.
Dodgy software....wonder when Patch 4 is coming out?
