[255] Senior Member Posts: 804 Joined: 03/31/2004	First and foremost, the problem. XP loads and does its thing... and I get a black screen with my mouse cursor... I know windows is loaded because steam has always poped up saying "Cannot detect your network connection!" and has a "retry" "cancle" and a "click here for details" button... the details button turns the mouse into a hand... which If i search long enough on my black screen... I can find it and my mouse turns into that god-forsaken hand I now loathe.... I can start in safe-mode just fine... I can restore my system but its hit or miss and the problem is still there no matter how far I go back.... I've virii scanned, ran ad-aware, ran Spy Bot... even did an overhaul on my registry.... I can't seem to find the problem.... I don't want to format or reinstall windows but that seems like the only viable option... Any suggestions? Edit: I'm not exactly sure if I fixed it... but after a MASSIVE driver cleaning (every driver I could possibly remove... I removed...) all seems to be running.... decently... for now... Will update again if it didn't work.... ------------------------- Opty 170 @ 2.5ghz Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe 2gig gskill @ DDR456 - 2.5-3-3-6 Saphire ATI Radeon x850xt @ 560/580 -SOLD-... Had to make ends meet.
