This is my first post here. I already feel welcome but suspect I'll do something wrong with this post, so apologies in advance. I signed up & logged in just to learn about the # of transistors in various CPU's. I am an AMD fan, have an XP1800+, a Sempron 2500+, and I have an Opteron being built starting with a single 246 on a dual-capable Asus board (the actual CPU has been photographed at close range at my request, if that will help) I used to have a P-III @500 MHz and I have access to my dad's Celeron. And of course I have heard and read about the new sizzlers by AMD, the "FX series" as I call them. I have searched many sites for hours trying to learn how many millions of transistors these CPU's have, and what factors make the number less significant now than in past years or decades. Can you help me out or point me to a series of URL's or anything?
