I have this odd problem with mouse cursor, occasionally it freezes, well, the image of the cursor freezes, but I can still select things on different parts of the screen (albiet with a lot of guesswork). Its highly annoying when it freezes in the missle of an online strategy game, when the image of the cursor just decides not to move, but I can still play the game with a bit of "guess what Unit you're selecting now...."

So, anyone idea whats wrong with it? It didnt used to do this. theres no viruses on the PC, or adware, or malware, or spyware, in fact the setup hasnt changed since before the problem started, at all. Its a PS2 mouse if that makes any difference.

Lol....I wonder if anyone can even understand my post.

Is it the ball type? If so then check that the wheels are free of dirt that accumulates on the wheels over a period of time. If this still does not solve your problem then its time to start getting inside the mouse for repair or buying another one.

No no.....I think you misunderstood the problem.

The image of the pointer on the screen stops moving, but I can still select things on different areas of the screen, albiet with a lot of guesswork as I dont have a moving pointer to work with.

The mouse works fine, just the image of the pointer on screen thats not moving (occasionally)

you know, it sounds very weird. it sounds like some type of virus, as if it has kind of changed some code to have the cursor stick. some things cannot detect all viruses you know (as you will)

Does it just happen in your game?

What mouse do you have?

99% it's not a virus.
try updating the drivers (if available0 for the mouse / mouseware
