This is technology, so dont go raving on me about how this shouldnt be here.

But heres my situation, I have a TV that is 19", built in 95, but doesnt have the RCA inputs on it. I dont have a VCR or DVD Player for it yet either. Im thinking the VCR is more important right now, so I am trying to find a good VCR for less than $50 with stereo output. I found this one. Sanyo VWM900' ">http://www.sanyo.com/entertain...ndex.cfm?productID=874 Its onyl $50 at Walmart. Any body esle have any suggestions. I also have thought about getting a VCR/DVD combo! Suggestions anybody? Brands, etc. But if I were to get a VCR/DVD combo, I want progressive scan and less than $80. Any suggestions here?

EDIT: Already have the SANYO, but havent opened the box yet.

I have a Sony DVD / VCR combo that works great, and saves a lot of room. Can't remember the model number though. It was $200 from Target a little over a year ago.

I also have a standalone Sony VCR ($70) that works great.

The combo is really nice, I'd buy one again if this broke. Biggest problem? If the DVD OR the VCR portion dies, you basically just lost both components. So there's a higher risk factor

[edit]
I should add... don't buy some cheap $20 piece of crap VCR. If you're going to buy one, make sure it's nice. We went through 3 cheapo VCRs before finally giving up and just buying a nice one.

Yeah. WEll my parents bought me that Sanyo VWM900 for Xmas, and it seems to be a really nice VCR, has all the features I would want. $50 is cheap too. Plus for that Extra $20 I figure Ill go for that Proton DVD.

Oops sorry for the confusion. Yes I already have the sanyo, well I havent opened the box yet, so I have really not seen it. I did fin a Sansui VRDVD4100 for $80. But not sure what I am going to do.

Also I do have that Proton Dvd player, but if I do get a combo, that dvd player is going to my parents.

Just buy an RF Modulator so you can give your TV component inputs. Here's a link to the one I have. It works great with a DVD player.

I just figure Ill be watching movies Koolaid in college, so i need that. But I also have VCr movies as well. The combo you linked to I kinda looked at, specs at least, and Ive decided to go with the Sanyo and that Prosonic DVd player. All together cost $70, but if I lose one, I dont lose all $70. Oh the TV was free btw Koolaid.

Yep thats the main reason, second reason is becuase the tv I have, that 19" Goldstar, doesnt have the RCA (red white yellow) jacks. And well I have an Xbox, Playstation, but also have lots of movies for DVD and VHS, and only vhs has the vhf out on it. So thats why I decided to look at that. Plus when it costs $30 for one of thoes RF Modulators I figure I ll just go ahead and get me a good vcr for $50.

Oh yeah, found a good review of that sanyo. http://www.epinions.com/Sanyo_...4-he...i-Fi_Stereo_VCR' ">http://www.epinions.com/Sanyo_...-head_Hi-Fi_Stereo_VCR

Some RF modulators are really crappy. Be careful. I speak from experience.

Sooooo.... yeah... Going away to college? too much junk if you gonna live in the dorms. unless the dorms are the size of a 4 car garage. I'd buy a bigger tv.
