QUOTE(Fuad Abazovic @ INQ) ATI's X1950 Pro to cost $199Nvidia will have to dropBy Fuad Abazovic: Monday 21 August 2006, 09:39 WE LEARNED that the upcoming X1950 PRO based on RV570 chip is going to be cheaper than expected. This card is expected in October and will end up with a juicy price of $199. Nvidia will price its Geforce 7900GS at the same price but Nvidia wants to fight RV560 with this card. RV570 is a 256 bit memory interface card with 256 or 512MB memory working at 1100 MHz and engine that is suppose to run at a 600MHz or 650MHz core. Nvidia will have the hard task to fight this one but as it didn’t announced anything it will always be able to make some slight changes in its roadmaps to fight this one.- http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33809Reader Beware: INQ.

Iono bout anyone else but that has to be false, there's no way it'd debut at $200 /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> X1800XTs just got down to that price. ATI'd rule any market then. $200 for the top card I don't think so.

well to have the best stuff peopel can't go out every 40 days and pay $1200 for the latest SLi/crossfire. And if it really is $200 it makes your wonder how much does it really cost to make that thing.

Trust me, it costs a lot less than $200 to make a gpu. I'd estimate less than $50 for a top of the line one.

until you factor in everything that led up to making it. All the research going into the card/tech itself

great speeds.... but it doesn't say anywhere how much pipes it will have. judging by the price and the GPU clock, i'd say it will be a 12-piped card. sounds really nice! and IIRC, ATI cards tend to unlock...

Nice first line: faster than 7900GT This could imply also that it has 16 pipes... but who knows...

Wasn't nVidia doing a similar thing a little while ago with the 7950GT? I only hope this price war carries on to the DX10 versions. That would be sweet!

How can it have 36pipes? It's a ramped up 1900 core(RV570?), just GDDR4 and a higher core clock I thought? And the new HSF design.

Is it right that with this new card you don't need a mastercard to get crossfire? You only have to buy two of the same and then you have crossfire system with the rigth MB. Then this is really some great news. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

I can't keep up with ATI, for some reason the nvidia numbers make more sense to me than the ATI.

I always thought Pixel Shader processors did not equal pixel pipelines.

Ahhhh, I get it now The X1950 series card with the R580 core is the new top of the line card with the 2 slot cooler.. The X1950pro (R570 core) is their new affordable high-end card, like the 7900gt but better And the X1650XT (R560 core) is their new Budget card, like the 7600gt but better I think the reason they chose the un odd model number is becasue they dont want to release the X2000XTX until R600...
