cstkl1: what drivers did they use for GTS and R600?
If they haven't already, tell them to use 8.374.

Wow the 2600 uses ~45 WAtts ? What does my X1950 Pro use ? I'm assuming that the 2600 will be better and with 45 watts that seems like very little.

how good this card well
lets look at the OC result
a 8800gts cant beat a GTX.
but
http://forum.lowyat.net/index....ch&type=post&id=207714 cstkl1 score
x6800@3.317 , 473*7
EVGA 680 mobo,
2x1gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer - 950mhz CL4 - 2.2v
8800gtx 575/1350/900 (Stock)
3dmark06 = 11086.
http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4946&s=18 Shamino VrZone
x6800@3.3 ,366*9
ASUS P5K Deluxe (Intel P35 Chipset)
2 x 1GB GSkill CL5DDR2 915MHz, 5:4 Divider
HD2900xt 880/1030 (742/828 - Stock)
3dmark06 = 11896!!!...
p.s. take note the 8800gtx was not running on the lastest driver which would have given it another 500 more points based on my other clocks with the 8800gts on that driver.
so its a crazy card..
anyways sold almost that whole setup except for the Proc.
geeee think will be getting this card and will try WC cooling on it.
Sounds like the most exciting overclocking card out there.
another note dont really give a ***** about intel penryne..
if amd can come out with a quad core with a single core performance equivalent to the c2d and much much cooler.. ***** man.. will come back to the light.... so hurry up guys.. c2d heat vs p4.. no freaking difference.

From first reviews it seems this card sucks a lot. Any hint on coming drivers changing this scenario?

as others have said, i would wait for better drivers. if it wasnt for the fact that i want so much at once i would have one (Physx to toy with, laptop [top end XPS], new K10 QFX with R600 crossfire and 8GB ram, something to drive, my own house, another 90GX2 flatscreen for a dual monitor setup, better PSU, and the list goes on).
(OT)hey smogs, any chance i could maybe be put on your will or something? just leave me a chevy s10 for all i care... or some Uber gaming rig from mars

No. Just wait.
Better drivers are already out. Again, just wait. There are still reviewers counting and waiting for the expected drivers before full out reviews. I'll link them as soon as they get the job done. I do know CF is deadly though with the new drivers.
And no again. The 640MB GTS does not come close to a stock HD2900XT with these very early drivers. Let alone what's coming. I "think" based on what I've heard, we're 2 driver releases away from AA issues being resolved.

Bad news.
Well good and bad, but the bad sticks out due to what AMD had pimped to reviewers.
