I still don't believe it.
More here.

But if this is true, Dell is a monopoly that I don't support.

its a shame, alienware was one of the few pre built rigs i would ever recomend to people who are too nervous or lazy to build there own.

I would somewhat believe it since micheal dell gets whatever he wants. Well say buhbye to another manufacturer that built AMD systems. Now theres only Gateway, Compaq, HP, and Emachines, and all of those smaller reatailers taht dont really count since alienware is a company that makes everything themselves (cases....etc)

exactly. They are the only company i would reccomend for gaming, for those people that dont want to build a PC. Go Dell!!!! /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" />

This might be a good thing, Alienware pc's were a ripoff to the 10th power. They charged 4,500 for what you could buy the parts for, pay some tech savvy person 500 bucks to Build, and have plenty of money left over, or build on your own and save 2 grand. I wouldnt be surprised if they keep building them with amd's as Dell a while back was supposedly starting to sell AMD processors (just the processors, not as part of their systems) there would be no reason to kill their known market as an AMD build for (lol) pentiums...

I'd never reccomend Alienware, I'd get Falcon Northwest instead. Or an ABS system.

I think the reason they bought it is that Intel wont let them Sell Amd's so they just bought another Big compagny so that they could sell them and not hear Intel complain.

i noticed a few months ago that the alienware customization page was coded exactly like the dell customization steps... so i wouldnt be surprised if this has been going on for quite some time

Well, say good bye to that Quad SLI AMD water cooled system they built, even if it was $7000. Alienware, we will miss you. You were the only quality Retail.

This is quite positive in some ways, but I understand the points of others who see it as a bad thing. It all comes down to prices really, that's if Dell keeps building to similar specs to what Alienware was building to. If they can lower the prices and keep selling top-end systems, great. Not that I would buy one myself... I do agree that Alienware PC's were hugely overpriced. So to be honest, I don't care either way.

I had my suspicions that Dell and Alienware were affiliated all along, like someone else said their websites are almost identical:
