What is with the socket AM2? i am also reading about an 8 core CPU? Anyone got some info on this?

Don't worry about 8 core, they haven't even sold a quad core yet!

i know i wont be upgrading to am2 the 10% difference isnt worth the extra 700 or more you will spend on it,not unless you just want bragging rights and come to think of it i dont think you will see much of any difference at all on benchmark tests, im waiting for that zram stuff,

Wow an 8 core? Most people haven't even figured out why they need a dual core yet...lol.

The AM2 platform is supposed to be only $5-10 more expensive than the 939. So, if you buy RAM, CPU, and motherboard, AM2 is only supposed to be $5-10 more than the 939. And AMD has been quite about AM2.

I'll upgrade to whatever is a mid-ranged price/performance in 2008, maybe by then 64-bit and threading software will be the norm, but heck I may not need to upgrade if everything goes 64/threaded, just playin with LAME muti-threaded I see a 27% increase, I want more!
