Hi all of you and i want to comment on the speed of both processors , AMD Athlon 64 3000+ and AMD Athlon XP 2400+. First , i think it is fair to say that i had overclocked both processors.

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Overclocked to 2.07Ghz

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Overclcoked to 2.23Ghz

Nest i will list out the specs.

Athlon XP:
Soltek Mainboard
1x512MB 2X256MB DDR SDRAM.
400Watt PSU
nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT
CREATIVE SB LIVE! 5.1
SONY DVD-RW

Athlon 64:
Soltek Mainboard
2x512 DDR SDRAM
400 Watt PSU
nVIDIA GeForce 6800GT
On Board AC97 Sound
LG DVD-R

Ok. Here is the problem. I found out that my Athlon XP 2400+ PC is running much more faster than the Athlon 64 3000+. It is pretty obvious. I can see the diffrence when i am playing battlefield 2 and video editing. I will like to comment that Athlon XP is running MUCH more faster than the 64 Bit Athlon 64 3000+. I am serious. My XP is running at 2.03Ghz while the 64bit is running at 2.23Ghz. I can see the BIG diffrence when i am playing games. Well , how do you all comment on that?

taking everything at face value, there's no way the Athlon xp system should be outperforming the A64 system at any level. So something is very wrong with your A64 system.

Out of curiosity, is your A64 motherboard an Nforce3? if it is, that is likely your problem, there are known incompatibilities between the nforce3 chipset and 6800 series video cards. The 6800s are also very power hungry, and your PSU might not be up to the task.

As a side note, your XP rig is not running in dual channel mode, not with 3 sticks of RAM.

and could you list specifically which Soltek MB's? Power supplies too.

My XP is running in dual channel mode. I did the test with CPUID but i don't know how to upload the results on the net. Anyway , here is my specs on my 64. The motherboard model and my PSU is 400Watt(I don't know the brand) http://www.soltek.com.tw/solte...t/pr...st=SL-K8T-939FL

Yeup, there has to be some serious performance issue on the AMD64 system to be performing slower.

Try different drivers, try lowering your AGP to 8x and turning off fast writes, also AGP aperature to 128mb.

Even if we took the CPU out of the whole equation, the AMD64 system would perform alot faster just because of the 6800 GT > 6600 GT.

On top of the an AMD64 @ 2.23ghz is faster then an AMD XP @2.07ghz

The Athlon XP 2400+ even overclocked should be the one feeling slow - your A64 must be going at a snails pace!!!

Tried updating chipset drivers?

his 3400+ is only overclocked like 70mhz!

stock was 2ghz on my old 2400+, and im sure there wasnt a a second variation

but yeah, that A64 should kill the 2400+ even at stock
