I am just wondering if 3Dmark 2k1 works with PCI E cards? I have some incredibly crappy scores, I know I have an incredibly crappy PCI E video card but we are talking 5450 /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> So I am really hoping that 2k1 does not work with PCI E!! My old system (AMD 2500+M OC'd to 2250mhz) with a 128mb nVidia FX500 was 8000+

Now I am seriously bummed That is bizarre cause when I watch the test it looks better than it did with the old system, the 8 lights go smooth, all the graphics look better, right up until the score comes out! I am not a gamer so no big loss at least. I stuck a 7600 into my old board and gave it to my brother and now it is getting 14000, he is happy, and just loving it that my 939 sux so bad!!

3D Mark 06 would be better.

Where I live the ONLY option for internet is dial up, so downloading 06 is not a possibility. I got 01 from a Maximum PC magazine CD. maybe someday they will include 06.

2001 is not a reliable benchmark today as it doesnt stress the new abilities of gfx cards, but only old ones (im not talking technically as im not engineer, this is just my opinion).. for example, my current system gets lower score in 2001se than my old axp with 5500.. but it nearly doubles the score in AM3/03/06..

How does it play with your games? Lower performance? Is your PCIe slot x4,x8, or x16? What is your card? x8 is better than AGP 8x. If x4 slot, it could be the problem.

2001 is not a good measure. You need to run at least 2003. I get 29082 in 2001, 25192 in 2003, 11926 in 2005.

You said FX500? Is that an...FX5200? FX5500? FX5700? FX5900? Anything inbetween? If it was any of the lower ones you would think a 7100 would be better....course I have no clue what a 7100GS is so...

The most relevant benchmark is the one that came with the same video card generation. It is futile to run 8800s with 3dmk2001 or 5200 with 2003+.

No the fx 500 is a cad/rendering card, not a gaming card at all (google PNY qffx500) What you sadi about the 7100 should be better is what I thought as well. Maybe nagaty_h has a point (that is what I thought at the beginning of this post) @mckenna - The games work and look way better ,I am using the pcie 16 slot, as for my card, xfx geforce 7100gs 512mb ddr2 TV DVI PCI E does not say much more than that on the box
