2.1 would be fine.
also, it would be best if they came from newegg, i am ordering other stuff from there today and would like to just have 1 invoice.

Newegg doesnt seem to have much of a selection of speakers but the Logitech Z-4's seem pretty good from looking at a few reviews.
I have a pair of Logitech Z10's (as does Kaz) and my daughter has the X-530's and I'm very impressed with them. Logitech do seem to have a good grasp on the pc speaker market.

Review
Edit------- scrub that about not having a very good range as I just found the link to more speakers

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16836166006 Bose Companion 2.0 $89 and free shipping
Bose stuff can be overpriced (much like Monster cables) but it's generally very good. I have the 2.1 Cinemate system for my Home Theater and they rock (paid just $35 for them from a guy who had no clue what he had).

I've had these for years and I would highly recommend them.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16836121122 Logitech Z-2300 200 watts RMS 2.1 Speaker System - Retail $100.99. I think you'll also have to spring for the shipping though so maybe it's not the price you are looking for.

HI at the Egg, and for 2.1 Speakers, I agree with RBR. and teh Logitech Z-2300's would be the best choice.
I love my Logitech Z-10's especailly for music at the PC, not as good as my z-5500's for most things, but when I'm using hte PC, I actually prefer to listen to music on my Z-10's, though that might change once I get the Asu Xonar D2X soundcard for my HTPC with the Z-5500's connected.
But for 2.1 speaker set, the Z-2300's at Newegg look like the best choice to me as well..
The Logitech Z-Cinema advanced look nice as well, but out of your price range...!!
For me I like things to look good as well..!!

I drive a truck and I heard a CB shop advertising them as "Bose Speakers" he didn't know if they worked or not. To be honest, I didn't know what I had til I got home and looked them up.
The only thing I needed was a universal remote that spoke Bose.

thanks guys for all the suggestions
i had a chance to listen to the Logitech Z-4 40 watts 2.1 Speaker at a local target ($100 there) and they sound great.
$70 at the egg+ shipping, they would be perfect-BUT
as of yesterday i noticed a crack in the acrylic in my waterblock,SO- as of now i will be buying a new WB first.
maybe in a few weeks i can pick up some speakers, and maybe a little more money.
it seams that an extra $30-$50- will really inprove my choices,
agian thanks
