Hmm seems a bit unfair to single Moorhen2 and myself out in this fashion.... and in a way that hardly seems to be the best way of doing so... in a capacity as a Mod, if there is a particular user who's sig or actions in some other way are considered as being against the rules, then it would be far better to either post a new thread to announce that sigs are to be limited to a certain size, and then if needed to PM anyt individuals who don't comply with the instructions asking them to do so and pointing them to the post..

I wasn't even aware of the post directed to myself and Moorhen2 asking us to re-size our sigs until I was told about it in a PM from another user...

Personally I can't see what the problem is... here are current users sigs and sizes (in alphabetical order):

Dimwit - 555 x 125
Immortal Lobster - 800 x 100
Kazgirl - 629 x 166
Moorhen2 - 791 x 176
O'Neill - 600 x 197
Orn - 700 x 130
PC-GURU - 699 x 105
Porsceracer14 - 700 x 121

SOo from that we can see that not a single one is exactly 700 x 100 or smaller... not even PC-GURU's which is still 5 above the 100 limit...

Here's what I was told previously by another Mod (TLH) some time ago...

As we can see lengths range from 555 to 800 and heights from 100 to 197 for other sigs....

Both mine and Moorhens sigs fall within these size ranges....

(Length = 555 - 800) - My sig = 629 (L)
(Height = 100 - 197) - My Sig = 166 (H)

(Length = 555 - 800) - Moorhen2's Sig = 791 (L)
(Height = 100 - 197) - Moorhen2's Sig = 176 (H)

I will happily resize my sig... once I can see that the rule is being applied to everyone and not just me....until then it stays as it is...!!!!!!!!!!

Furhtermore I've just read the RULES Here and nowhere in the GUIDELINES, does it mention anything relating to Signature sizes...!!! Please post a link to the rules that defines the permissable size image for a signature... or I should say the rules for the NEW FORUM software...

I beleive that the original size limitation was an outdated size, mainly dating back to the prolific use of smaller monitors with lower resolutions.... presumably any size rule was then removed from the NEW RULES to take into account the more common use of more up to date, larger resolution screen sizes.... whereas in the days of the old forum software, it may have been rarer to find users with larger screens, that no longer holds true, and conversely its now less common to find users with smaller 15" or less CRT Monitors..!!

I quite often monitor these forums on my old Intel lappy which has a 15" screen and yes some sigs break off the side of the screen but it doesn't cause me any concern, and Kaz's sig is one of the ones listed above that doesn't cause this issue.

Don't want to be singled out is all... I really don't mind re-sizing mine, just make it a bit longer is all.... no big deal.... 2 minute job... but if anything it will take up more space being longer but less high than it does in its current form...!!

As I say above this is a case of Mods beeing jobsworth's IMO.... the rule that they refer to no longer exists... at least there's no mention of it in the current rules, and when it did exist it was for a reason, (Monitor sizes being smaller) the rule was most likely removed on the new forum software update to recognize and accomodate the fact that larger screen sizes are the norm now, and smaller screens are the rarity...!!

Let's see the RULES I say... Let the MOD's post a link to the RULES covering this forum that says the sig has to be 700 x 100.... rather than singleing out indiviudal users...!!!

GGrrrr I'm really angry about this I spent a lot of time doing my sig, and I have a number of different versions that I have used that size as a template for..... 629 x 166 hardly seems to be a huge size IMO... !!!

I think I know the likley reason for this bit of nonsense as well.....

no one was singled out... i asked guru yesterday and he complied quickly and without any fuss. i spotted your two earlier and so have asked you two.

im not anal about it a few pixels over wont cause problems, but when a sig is of such a size that it becomes the focus of a thread then it takes away the value of whats being said.

as i said no one is being singled out here so please dont take it personally. i will be asking others to resize their sigs if they are significantly over the size allowed as they appear.

As I say unless someone can point us to the RULES that defines this as being the case, then mine will stay as it is... it's really not that big, and I beleive that the rule no longer exists for a reason....!!!!!

If it exists somewhere then by all means point users to it... I've read the RULES and nowhere in there does it say that Sig Sizes are restricted to 700 x 100...!!!!!!

AND AS FOR DETRACTING FROM THE VALUE OF WHAT'S BEING SAID IF PEOPLE POSTED REPLIES WITH MORE THAN 5 SYLLABLES IN THEM THEN THE SIGS WOULDN'T BE DETRACTING FROM WHAT'S BEING SAID.


SO EITHER POST A LINK OF THE RULES THAT DETERMINES THIS TO BE THE CASE OR BAN ME AS I AM NOT MAKING MINE SMALLER THAN IT CURRENTLY IS I SEE NO PROBLEM WITH IT...!!!!!

If I ever do get on my computer again I will create a fancy sig as well.
Got nothing done, I am keeping the house clean and doing whatever I can for the wife and getting zero appreciation and I am getting grumpy because of it.

Define significantly...!!!......also.... what is the allowed size..????

There is nothing in the rules or guidelines that says what it is...!!

There's nothing on the profiles page either....!!!

So how do you define :-

1. What is allowed..!!
2. What is significantly over..!!
3. Do you know for a fact that the size restriction hasn't been removed for a reason..??

These are genuine questions...!!
