This is how you get 4.0ghz on the 940be,without the need for htt oc.ing.And it's stable, and with a leaky resevoir on my W/C,lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cpu-z showing wrong voltage as it allways does, vcore is at 1.5600v,after doing a lot of research the 940be will take 1.6v with no problems.Coretemp showing undervoltage which is unussual, mind you it is the new beta version, lol!!

Now validated with cpu-z

Nice job moorhen2.
I ran and validated this test back in January when I had my 940. It wouldn't 3D bench at that speed though.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=492751

I think ed6698 posted a cpu-z screen shot of his 940 at 4285MHz. Its fun to get them to run over 4K but it's somewhat of a problem to get them to carry a load at that speed. Keep trying though maybe your hardware can do it.

I was wondering if its possible to do this kindof overclocking with a phenom 9500 series quad core, It seems that I cannot get the multiplier past 11 and the htt past 235,thanks,AdamC93

The older Phenoms like yours have a cold bug preventing them from being over clocked using Liquid nitrogen or liquid Helium. You could using water cooling to see where you can get it up to, However 4GHZ is impossible with the 9500.

Hi AdamC93,welcome to the forum mate, well unfortunatly the 9500 is'nt a black edition,so it has a locked multiplier,so stock speed is 2.2ghz,you may be able to get a bit more out of it using the HTT,but i dont think your going to gain that much to be honest.

Alot depends on the capabilities of the mobo and bios mate, being able to manually adjust multipliers and frequencies and voltages. What mobo are you using ???.

i didnt like my 9500,i replaced it with a 5000+be until the 9850 came out.
if by any chance you can sell it, take the money and put it towards a better cpu,if you are looking into overclocking.

Hi all....

Been MIA for a couple of days ISP troubles.... as in I hadn't paid them on time... All cleared up now though...!!

First off congrats Moorhen on breaking the 4Ghz mark... I'm really glad that all the time and money you invested in the PC is working out so good..!!

Like others here I have gotten my 940 over the 4Ghz mark as well, but as others have found I to had trouble with it under load....

But its really nice to see the desktop at 4Ghz...

I think Moorhen2 is using water block cooling since he mentions "leaky resourior".

The limit for aircooling is typicall 3.4 to 3.7.

Water cooling can ofter reach 4.0 without much anxiety.

For active chillers either Water, Peltier, or Liquid N2 ... the sky is more the limit.

BUT CONGRATS for the achievement !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
