Ok so Ive been busy the past week or so, upgrading optimizing and reading.

I have an opportunity to build a PC for someone that wants just a fast PC, and dont care how I get there.

Well I have some very good components just sitting around and in my current config that I wanted to upgrade anyway.

So I will be buying the 955 and a 2nd set of 4GB GSkill Pi Black 1066 to match the set I just got.

However I have my ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe and I love it. It has been wonderful.
So my question is should I go ahead and get the M4A79-T Deluxe and then of course buy all new DDR3 RAM? Or just stay with my current config, and buy a new mobo down the road as AM3 progresses.

I just got my 2nd 4870 Sapphire, and I got an Antec Quattro 850

Current Config:
9950
2x4870's
4GB GSkill Pi Black 1066
Antec 850W Quattro

I am going to put my 9950 in the friend's build and pick up the Asrock AOD for it if I dont upgrade my mobo... otherwise he will have the M3A79-T and I will get the M4A79-T

Is it worth spending the money yet? or just adding the 955 will be plenty for now.

I would wait until AMD has the proper support for DDR3 wait for next series of chip set to come out.

Two7Buckeye, like Zodgrod009 said you are better off waiting until this whole AM3 DDR3 platform shakes out. I have tested the 955 both ways now (AM2+, AM3) using the M3A79-T Deluxe and the Gigabyte AM3 MB and IMHO there isn't much of a performance increase with the AM3 MB I tested. Maybe the Gigabyte just needs another new bios or it could be that the AM3 DDR3 platform just isn't ready for prime time. Either way save your money and let the companies developing the AM3 MB's tune them for a while longer. Or you could be like me always after the newest toys and pay to test them. Lol!

The M3A79-T Deluxe (803 bios) and the 955 get along very well together BTW. Good luck.

Perfect...
Thanks guys, I have the chance, but it just doesnt seem necessary at all.

I was mainly concerned how the 955 will run in my mobo. I knew it would run well, but I didnt know if there was a performance increase beneficial enough to spend the money for all new RAM and mobo. Im pretty aware after research that DDR3 is obviously faster but certainly not worth enough to spend right now, until it becomes sort of a standard like DDR2 is now.

As always thank you very much!

As a side note, I just made a deal, so Im trading off the 22" Dell I have for his 24" Dell. He wants to run (2) 22''s

Im finally getting a chance to stretch my twin 4870's legs!

Ahh im almost done!

955 and another set of GSkill's and Im all finished!
