I found a new and interesting benchmark. It looks like most of us should be able to run this benchmark, so we should be able to get a good sampling from older, current and future systems here across a variety of OSes.

The rated minimum requirements are Windows XP, Pentium 4 2.0GHz or higher, 1GB of memory, 10GB of hard drive space, DX9 capable graphics cards with 256MB of memory and with support for Shader 3.0. The recommended requirements on the other hand goes to Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz CPU or higher, Windows Vista, 2GB of memory, DX9.0C/Shader 3.0 graphics card (Nvidia Geforce 8600 series or higher/ATI Radeon x1900 or higher) with 512MB of video memory.

So let's get everyone involved and I'll try my best to keep things updated. Here's the settings we will use. Basically, max out the sliders and options. Let's see how well this does on your system and hardware. We won't worry about the screen resolution being different for each of us. What's the point of playing a game if you can't enjoy the eye candy?

You can download the benchmark from GamersHell

When you are done, you will get a screen that you can save, or do a printscreen of and just post it in here. Try to keep the screenshot posted in here to a fair size, or else include a link to the large file. Feel free to include any information about your system specs if you would like. It's not crucial as the becnhmark does report some of the basics, but not the settings or requencies. BTW, the aspect correction should be set to your monitor ratio or else leave it at auto.

*I will post your highest run with v-sync off at your highest resolution, to help keep things more fair and see what our machines are capable of.

I'll start it off here.

The first way you can post your score is by saving it in the program and copying and pasting it into here, like so:

SCORE: 4932
AVERAGE: 39.23FPS
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX-60 Dual Core Processor
Memory: 2048MB
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT
Display Setting: 1920x1200 60Hz 8xAA

The second way is posting a picture of the final screen

do we have a basic setting base for all to test at ?

Or do we run it at what we game at ?

never mind the game is soooooo old school and so fun lol.

I maxed her out on highest possible settings but turned vsync off due to I get no tearing as it is.

Run 2 was hella higher lol, same settings.

We'll just go and use 'gamer settings' for now. An older computer probably has a smaller monitor anyways, which should help out. I'm currently trying to get it to run on my old laptop to see. I'll update things here shortly...

Not even remotely a workout for my rig lol.

PorscheRacer14 I know it's off topic but where did you get the Windows 7 drivers for your Ati Mobility Radeon X600? I have that graphics card in my HP laptop but the drivers that Windows 7 installs max out at a low resolution. When Windows 7 tries to update that graphics driver it always fails to install. I haven't had time to chase down the problem so I was wondering if you had a work around or a link to a workable driver. HP doesn't list a workable Windows 7 driver for this graphics card that I have found.

Edit: I just found the correct driver. It looks great and works good also. Oh well I guess I wasn't looking in the right place before.

yeah, same thing happened to me, so I let it use the supplied drivers in 7, and then did the mobility modder trick on the latest 9.3 drivers and then update the XCode drivers every month. It's working, and the features work, so I can't complain. What kinf od CPU do you have in your laptop to power your X600?

Interesting scores with this bench. I actually have higher fps but a lower overall score, then you Guru. To bad this does not show low and high fps also. I saw some fps as high as 245.

I'm wondering if it takes the CPU clock and gives you a base score and then adds on your average framerate for a score? It might explain why my laptop scored so high. Clearly, my laptop shouldn't even be running it, or getting a score as close to my main rig.

The processor is a Pentium 4 @2.8GHz, which = furnace like heat. This thing will heat a small room @ stock clocks no problem.

Oh yeah, in the winter, I would turn the hat down in the house and leave my laptop on at night to watch TV or a movie and it would keep me warm. In the summer, I have to use creative cooling tricks.

I don't think this test uses crossfire(X); at least my system didn't score well in the test using crossfireX? I didn't save a screen shot from the first test for you to see as I was still trying to find a setting option somewhere to enable crossfire in the test. Anyway with my 955 clocked @4080MHz and both 3870x2's o/clocked running in crossfireX my score was under 10,000 and the average FPS was just shy of 60.

The only thing I wonder is if the screen resolution has anything to do with the overall score as I was connected to an old monitor down in the shop that is maxed out at 1280X1024? Though I was running the test @1280X960 (I think, standard setting I guess).

That probably makes sense. So really, only one or two GPUs are being used. One of those 3870's is pretty much what my 2900XT is at, so throw in your awesome CPU, RAM and mobo and that does make a lot of sense considering what my score is at. If I game you my 2900XT to put in your rig and OC, I bet you would get near that score, at least in my theory. It's still hard to tell what really makes this benchmark score. I'll play with the resolution and OC settings on my CPU and see if it does anything.
