Okay then , your memory should run at the factory timing @ 1600MHz so when you get your bios pic's together we will take a look at whats going on .

okay guys. im kidna new here. i would like to ask you guys a few questions.
first of all i have a 965 now running @ 3.8Ghz but i would like to bring it to 4.0ghz but without it running too hot.
i overclocked it using the overdriver. just did the multiplier. i would like to do it via bios. but when i do it via bios and i look the overdriver. my multiplier its always on 19x and if i overclock it with the overdriver it goes up and down. (the multiplier) so i think its not that hot since its not always running at 3.8ghz .
i have air coolng. my cooler is enough to handle the heat. but still i dont want it to idle at 40 degree when it hits the 4.0ghz . i have brought it there but not stable
i ahvent hcange any setting of voltage except for my RAM everything its the same 1.4v and 1.1v NB
anyway i can't fnd the "black profiles" int he overdriver. andif i do the latest update. its kinda stupid. but i can't move the multiplier bar forward only back. so all i can do is underclock my cpu :S iwch is wierd

any recomendation for me?
also if i put more volatge will my parts last the same? as normal . true is i dont NEED the 4.0ghz but if i can have it it would be pretty cool

you may wanna go liquid cooling on the cpu to get that 4gig cpu speed and keep the temps below 50c. its always good to give the cpu a little more voltage to keep it stable. more voltage means more heat.you have a couple options on cooling your cpu.here's a couple:

imho these will do just fine for a nice oc to 4gigz.hope this helps.oh, btw. welcome to da 4um!

thx for the advice. but where should i put the voltage. cuz now at 3.8 my voltage stll 1.4 and still cool. the thing is i can't overclock it anymore via the overdriver. since i can't move the HT clock. and the multiplier also can't move it
could u tell me wich would be a nice setting for the 4.0? and btw i have this cooler

I just picked this DOMA Pro bench station up an hour ago $34.99 delivered . It has no card slot for support is my only con but when I freeze a gpu I can make a brace easy . There is more available . There is another DOMA Pro with gpu panel for $44.99 delivered at Amazon . DOMA Pro Bench Station , scroll down to view pic's . Can't wait for delivery to bench out my 2nd subzero platform that will move me way up in my oc rankings .

Hey guys...building my 1st PC...I know my board and my proc are well set to OC. Just wondering what recommended settings are...here's my breakdown...

MSI 890FX-GD70
965 BE
OCZ Reaper HPC edition 2 x 2GB
Sapphire HD5750 (I know it doesn't quite go with the rest...oh well...)

Still have a few items to get...power supply, and optical drive...

Should I just start off using the OC dashboard that comes with my board? Or should I say screw it and do it all from the BIOS?

Any help would be appreciated...

Congrats on your new system mather25 . When you get it all set up and running go right into your bios and sett up your memory to the factory frequency , timings , command rate and voltage . After that go in the rest of your bios and set everything else up properly . Now go load your operating system and all your mb drivers and software that comes on your mb disc . Go to your mb website and you can find there all the drivers for your mb to be sure the ones on your mb disc are not older ones . After loading the os you want to run and install all the updates to your operating system or os as we say it . Then set up your visuals and performance and anything you wish to for the os . After this run the Experience Index to get a performance base score for your new system . Now that your os is stable and your bios is set up properly you can begin over clocking it . This way I show you is pretty much a rule of the thumb or 101 way of doing this . There are other ways for the extremely experienced over clockers . Good luck and have fun mather25 .
