Does the Phenom II X6 1055T work with DDR2 ram?

My planned system:

AMD PHenom II X6 1055T
ASRock N68C-S UCC
3Gb DDR2 RAM (1x1 + 1x2)

In theory yes but for your mobo

1. 95W TDP limit so current Thubans (125W TDP) are all out
2. NForce 630a are all essentially AM2 mobos/tech with HT Limitation when paired with AM2+/AM3 chips and still on PCIex16 1.0 so i would say not fitting for a chip like Thuban, even when the 95W variants arrive

Theoretically yes, but not recommendable.

your CPU fits in an AM3/AM2+ socket and its memory controller is capable of driving ddr2 and ddr3 ram. Thing is, AM2+ boards HT link (communication link between your CPU and rest of the system) is limited to a maximum speed which is far slower than that of an AM3 board. Also, most AM2+ boards are of an older production date and may have the capability to support the new X6 CPUs, but the manufacturer has to push out a BIOS update so the mobo knows how to handle the CPU.

Also, a faster CPU will need faster RAM to be able to unleash its full potential. ddr2 is officially limited to an effective rate of 800Mhz, for ddr3 the standard is currently 1333Mhz. I doubt I'd want to take the gamble and overclock my mix-and-match ddr2 kits.

Go AM3 + ddr3, or get an X4 940 BE (built for am2+) CPU instead. Your choice.
