My question is basically whether or not it's worth it to upgrade my comp, or just get a new one. My HP has an MSI mobo socket 939 with and AMD 64 4000+ cpu. I've been thinking I could get a FX60, or 4600+ or higher cpu for dirt cheap. What I don't know is if I'll get enough of a performance boost to warrant the cost and effort. Oh, btw the 4000+ is a single core.

That all depends on what you want. If you just check your email a few times a day then don't do anything. If you want to game the latest games and do video stuff and all the wonderful new stuff that a high power cpu can do then buy or build a brand new AM3 rig and use W7 for your os.
