I purchased the APC BX900R 900 VA Back-UPS Battery Backup - 900VA, 120V, 540-Watts, Black from Tigerdirect today for black friday. When I got home I noticed that the box only said 540 watts... lol If you look in my signature you will see that I have a 750 Watt power supply (and a few other things I would need to run on the UPS).

So I was wondering, can I use this UPS even though my comp is a lot more power hungry and just use the device for a shorter time? Or will this be bad and should I just return it because the box is still unopened.

I seriously doubt that your computer draws 750W 24/7.

Depending on what you're doing that UPS will do fine. Gaming when you're powered by it is probably not a good idea but just surfing and doing some light work will be just fine.

I have a APC Smart-UPS 1000VA and only draw roughly 35% when running gpu folding. I think it goes up to around 44% when I cpu fold aswell. I only get around 6-7 minutes of run time in a powercut but that's more than enough to shut down.
