id go the g-skill save a couple of bucks so ya can afford to get a new game to test it with aswell .also looked over your revised system build and its looking a lot better now and should be a beast .i run g-skill 1600mhz ddr3 and have had no issuse as yet

I just installed this set in my rig yesterday, they run flawlessly@ 1887MHz.
DDR3-1866 memory also allows for more overclocking headroom.
You picked some great components, why not do the same with memory?

@NemesisChild I am know very little about RAM and so never even considered an 1866 before. Wow those timings seem weird, but I guess it's time to research that

Question, I thought with lower timings on your RAM you coud get the most OC out them, am misinformed? The timings for the G.Skill RipJaws X are at 9 i think.

Yes they have CL9 timings, but it has nothing to do about how well they overclock.
Some CL9 memory can overclock better than CL6 memory and visa versa.
Just depends on the quality (and density) of the modules.
High end chips (with lower timings) do tend to be better overclockers though.
The higher density (4GB) modules tend to not overclock as well as 1GB or 2GB modules.

Believe or or not, this Ripjaws-X kit is a bit faster than my 2x2GB Flares@ 2000MHz with CL7 timings.

I read your post in another thread where you were talking about ganged and unganged and your references to timings which was really interesting (and confusing )

I like the fact that Ripjaws you recommended are 8GB only because I usually do a lot of multitasking and so my ram usually gets quite full.

I'm interested in what you think of expanding your memory through an SD card dedicated to ReadyBoost, yay or nay?

Have never explored that possibility, but sounds interesting.
With the speed of memory modules these days, I don't think it makes sense.
But SSD's are the wave of the future and will eventually replace mechanical drives all together.

IMO there is no such thing as overkill going whith a great name brand and more power than you need is smart very smart

that is the heart of the computer

and i wouls look at 2x4gb for memory I would have gone that way but it was to expensive at the time but pricing now why not

stress on the IMC (internal memory controler) is more to do with how many dimms\slots are filled than size of memory

cool so another +1 for the ripjaws i like it I mean $110 for killler memory is not that big a deal and the fact I can get 8gb for that price is something I am very happy about.
