Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has had experience migrating an AMD controlled RAID array between motherboards. I just had some of my components die, and I figured it would be time to move to new components for cost reasons. I was hoping to buy a refurbished Asus Crosshair III to replace my Foxconn A79-AS board. Both are 790fx sb750, but the Asus is AM3 and DDR3. I cant move to an 890 or 990 chipset because I have about 5tb of data and nobody I know can accommodate that bulk for the time it would take to get my new build going. Can I change over with the RAID intact? Will it be a smooth transition?

Thanks for the help

Yes, this can work. It doesn't even need to be exactly the same level of AMD chipset.

One thing though, the RAID BIOS needs to support the RAID level you are migrating. I.e. I do not think you could move a RAID 5 to a motherboard that only supports RAID 0 and 1. I've never tried it.

does this imply that a 890fx board that does raid 5 can work?
