Hi ... i am 1st time on this forum so if not posted on right place i am sorry... so i have motherboard msi ms-7309 and i have AMD Athlon 64x2 36000+ cpu with Socket AM2 (940)  .. so i read on some forums that i can put am3 socket cpu on am2 socket ... and here in Bosnia we cant buy any am2 sockets so i wanted to buy am3 socket cpu.. like  this one (http://unimatrix.ba/shop/product.php?id_product=167) and i wonder can it be instaled on my mother board ...

my motherboard information :

Chipset :Nvidia mcp61  rev.a3

It looks like your board can support the Athlon II 250 just make sure you update your BIOS to the latest version before installing the new cpu.

Dont be just like u can support it.... are u 100 % sure cuz i dont wanna buy and realise it cant fit and its not for my mb

AM2+, AM3 and AM3+ cpu's all use the same socket, so yeah it will fit on your board.

Now when I looked up the model number you gave at MSI four boards came up and the two I looked at both supported 65w AM3 cpu's like the AthlonII 250.
Now since I didn't know witch board your using I can't be a 100% sure.

You can always go to the MSI forums and ask them. They would know better then anyone on these forums.

Ok I did a little more research and if this is your board than sorry your out of luck.

As you can see it dose not support any AM3 cpu's


Sorry man, I only looked at the first two that came up and after taking a closer look at them thay had MCP61(P) chipset
