If anyone here remembers me, you'll remember that I know what I'm doing and I'm not new to any of this... so please... spare me the instructions on how to build..

Anyway....

I haven't touched a single componant since I sold my computer back in march in order to make ends meet (Divorce, loss of a job, being a single father raising my kid by myself, etc)...
I've finaly come across the means to start planning out a new system and now that I'm financially stable again and out of debt, I want to get this ball rolling.

I'm asking for recommendations. For all parts.
Price of finished system will be around $3,500.
This includes monitor, case, hdd's, hsf, EVERYTHING.

I'd go with a Corsair unit over a Sirtec one.

That's a good option too, but I found the 560 model very well designed. It'll be up the the challenge.

Very nice. Thank you for the options.

I won't have the money to build this completely for about 4-6 months depending on where life goes and if my vehicle decides to break down or other randomness that might ensue.

Thank you again.

By then, the higher binned AMD quads will be out, along with a more robust and complete motherboard lineup, newer cards and hopefully the AMD southbridge SB700 makes it's appearance on motherboards by that time. But I concur on the build as it is now, very sweet. Hope you can build it!

hmm medium specs proc
with mid end mobo
with high end graphic card
with mid end rams
that would fit that budget.

I hardly ever buy top end stuff. I usually set my sights a generation behind or so.
It lasts a good long while usually and is significantly cheaper also.

Maybe by the time I do purchase everything, I'll be able to get better stuff than what's listed. Who knows.

There's no such thing as 'mid end'.
Mid = middle --> no end.

Looks like a good system! I've been out of the PC modding loop for a while b/c of this new 20" c2d imac, but i hope this goes great for you.
