This may be a dumb question, but with my IDE DVD players, there was always a cable that attached to the DVD Player and to CD_In on the motherboard so that you could get audio from the DVD or CD you were playing.

I just took my new SATA DVD Rewriter out of the box and noticed that there was no provision for an audio cable...just hookups for the SATA cable and the power cable. How is audio delivered from the new SATA drives to the motherboard to the speakers?

It's not required for the IDE drives either. Audio comes off, and goes on jsut fine without it.

It was used for the days when the operating system didn't handle the audio directly, and the audio was passed directly to the card.
