Tested my Seagate Extreme last night with the seagate software test and it came back as a bad device and says "This external drive requires service". Tells me to apply for an RMA. I'm getting long transfer times with it.

I also tested my Corsair Dominator @ 1066 just before I went to Win 7 and it was throwing a few errors in Memtest and one of the cooling fans in the airflow has given me problems also, squeeked badly for a couple of weeks and is now stiff compared to the other 2 fans on it. Will rma it but need new stuff first. Running ok @ 800.

So recommendations for either a good 1Tb external or internal drive please. It's a storage drive and I don't use the portable nature of an external enough for it to be a necessity to go for an external really, just needs to be solid and reliable.

Also is there any problem with Geil Black Dragon ram as it's the only stuff I've found at a decent price right now. When I bought my Dominator it was £69 for 4gb, right now it's running at around £125. Taking the Geil means dropping to pc6400 but I'd be going to 8gb rather than 4gb @ pc8500 and it would fit under the fan on my core contact freezer.

Your thoughts please. Cheers.

I've recently used these guys for buying ram, they seem to have a decent range of manufacturers and decent prices too.

Which hdd would you get and why, the Samsung Spinpoint F3 or the WD Caviar green?

I'm looking to get the F3 after Bit-Tech (aka Custom PC magazine) reported it as the fastest HDD they have ever tested (not including SSD's).

F3 Review

I am ordering the F3 1TB today as my christmas present, I already use a 750gb F1 and have found that to be very quick, the 1tb F1 is quicker still and the F3 is even quicker again.

Eventually I will get an SSD and then I'll have an uber fast OS drive and a very fast storage drive.

I heard alot of the F1's went bad, I'll go read that review on the F3. I'm waiting till prices drop on memory to get a ssd as an OS drive, may get one when they reach £1.50 per gig or less. It's currently the lowest part score on my windows experience at 5.3.

Yeh I heard some reports of F1's, not sure if it was a massive amount though.

My 2 750gb's have been going fine for nearly a year and a half now with 4-8 hours daily use.
