I have had compuers for many years, but have never changed a processor. I recently purchased an HP Elite series computer with a 2.6ghz Phenom II 910 processor. I was thinking of upgrading the processor to the 965. I just am not sure if it would be a direct fit, and what else I would need to do besides just swapping it out. Like bios changes or cooling fan or anything else.

The 965 BE 140 watt is from the same generation as your 910. But the 965 BE 125 watt is from a new generation of CPU's with c3 stepping.

The likely hood of a pre built PC supporting 140 watt TDP CPU,s is 1 in a million.
