Hey how ya doin. Please don't stone me for my Intel transgressions but........ I haven't built a system since socket 475 and never an AMD system. My goal is an affordable gamer with room for upgrades when prices come down. Absolute price ceiling is $1500 to start. I have some knowledge but it's so antiquated my head is spinning from all the new tech out there. Been doing some research to get me back up to speed and thought 'Hey!' Why not go to an AMD forum and renounce my aversion to the 'Dark Side' and see if I can get a little boost up the knowledge chain?
Any and all comments welcome as long as they don't roast me to badly. Thanks!!

If you want a top notched, somewhat future proof rig, look at my mobo, CPU, and memory in my sig.
They are a fantastic combination, you can't go wrong.
If you need help with a PSU, graphic card, and gaming case, let us know.

Wow!! Thanks people!! Yes I want to future proof it as much as possible. This is going to a complete build starting with the case. I've been looking around and getting ideas in that department. My computer building education comes from MaximumPC, which, other than the Radeon cards, seems to lean towards Intel these days. Have experience with ASUS products and have been pleased with them. Along with Corsair, Creative, and Cooler Master. Right now running on the following:

p4 2.4C 512/800 OC'd 2.66Ghz
MSI 865PE Neo2 PFS
Nvidia Geforce 6600 256Mb
2 GB 2700
Creative Sound Blaster
Antec w/ 350w PSU
WinXP Pro x32

As far as the monitor.....not sure which direction I'm heading there other than BIG. Thinking TV big. Most of the stuff I watch comes off the net sooo. The new build will be run on Windows 7 x64(need to do some research in that area also). I've done Water Cooling in the past and really liked it. With all the svelt new stuff out there I'll probably opt for it eventually. I really enjoy building these things and seeing them come together. Almost as much fun as gaming for me. Thanks for checking me out and I'll be looking forward to hearing anything that you all may deem necessary. Peace.
