I'm new to the forums so i hope this is in the right place.

I was wondering which CPU would be better for my setup?
Because the 6100 is 3.8GHz and the 8120 is 3.1GHz
Why would the cheaper one be higher GHz?
Should i go ahead and spend the extra $30 for the FX-8120
Also any other recommendations? I can't really spend that much more.
This as is, is around $750

BTW I AM BUILDING THIS SYSTEM FOR GUILD WARS 2. AND I WANT TO RUN IT ON MAX.

You won't be happy with the FX-6100 so spend the extra bucks and get the 8120 and just OC it to 3.8Ghz.
Also I would spend a little more on the motherboard, the one you pick is probaly not that bad but if your going to use a video card then theres no point getting a board that has onboard graphics plus a better board will over clock better.

I would look at a board that has the 970 or 990X chipset like this Asus M5A97 or Biostar TA970XE

Yeah thay'er going to cost more but if your building a gaming rig then its well worth it.

glad to see your going with the TA970XE I know it cost more but its well worth it in the long run.


The difference the 970 chipset would make is that the 900 series chipsets were designed for the new FX cpu's like the FX-8120.
