I've been wanting to know if it's possible to replace the processor in one of my older computers, but I can't seem to find out what processors would be compatible.
And so far everyone I've asked has not given me a direct answer.
The computer is rather old but has had all of it's parts replaced expect for the Motherboard and CPU.

The specs of it are:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3800+
RAM: 4GB's of DDR1 RAM in four 1GB chips.
Power Supply: 300 Watts Max
OS: Windows 7
Computer Model: HP Pavailion a1267c
Motherboard Name: MSI (MS-7093)
BIOS Version: Phoenix Technologies 3.47

Is there any processor that I can upgrade too with a computer running this?
I would like to upgrade to a dual core processor at least running 2.4ghz.

Any socket 939 Athlon64 X2 or socket 939 Opteron, single core or dual core will work. These have not been in production for a few years so they can be found 2nd hand at e.g ebay and such.
