Hey guys.
I'm doing an upgrade on my Motherboard and also on the memory (going from an
ASUS M4A79 DELUXE to an
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX), but the memory i currently have ( PC2-6400) is not compatible with the newer mother board. The processor i use is the Phenom II x4 980 BE and from what i read it supports up to PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333MHz) memory, and the mother board supports up to DDR3 1866.
I was wondering if i had to purchase a PC3-10600 memory in order for it to work or if i can go with a different type/ faster memory and make it work?
btw the memory im looking at is the
CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600)
And also I would like to know if this is a good choice as far as memory upgrade.
