This is my home system, purchased with the proceeds of investing in AMD stock just before the AMD64 was released... I intend to play around with technologies such as java and 64bit linux.

I basically went for budget on all the components, except RAM because I know how big an effect not having enough RAM can have on a system.

AMD64 3000+, for Cool'n'Quiet, and bang for buck
MSI K8TNeoFIS2R, for Cool'n'Quiet and bang for buck and reviews
1GB AData PC3200, 1 stick so that I can upgrade to 2GB easily on the K8TNeo
Albatron FX5200, low spec cos I don't do games, Nvidia for Linux
Seagate SATA 80GB, 150MB/sec transfer rate, quiet operation
Antec SLK3000BQE + SL350S PSU, quiet operation and reviews
Liteon 812 DVDRW, everything you could ever want in optical goodness

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Newcastle DH7-CG)
MSI K8TNeo FIS2R (bios 1.90)
1 GB AData PC3200
Albatron FX5200EP
Seagate 80GB SATA
Liteon 812s DVDRW
Antec SLK3000BQE
Antec SL350S
Windows XP Pro SP1, Suse 9.1 Pro 64bit
AMD CPU drivers

That system is really nice. And if you arent going to do much or any gaming, then that card will do you very well. But, that is a very nice setup, all of my clients, that want to upgrade, I suggest, that mobo(or the toned down version), and CPU, cause of the bang for your buck. But nice rig there Dale77.

- AMD FX 8120
- ATI/AMD HD 7970
- Biostar TA990FXE
- 16 GB's of some flashy Crucial RAM
- Buncha HDDs sucking up way too much power
- Win7 Ultimate x64/Ubuntu x64
-A lot of other crap that I can't remember.
- Wurd?
