I was looking at FX 57 and FX 55 on Newegg. FX 55 Sandiego @ $800 2.6 GHZ and FX 57 Sandiego @ $1000 2.8 GHZ. Which one should be bought? $200 for 200 MHZ seems like a little more to me and a 200 MHZ overclock is easy.

So what do you guys suggest ?

If it's a FX-55 San Diego on the 90nm process... buy that and OC it. You'll hit 2.8GHz pretty easy I'd say, and probably 2.9 without much fuss. Anything higher, you'll want a LARGE copper cooler with heatpipes, or most likely a good watercooling system.

I would definitely suggest the FX-55 as long as it's 90nm...

It can easily be OCed 400MHz with the stock HSF, anything above that would require a nice big HSF...

Thnaks guys, the FX 55 it is then. I do have a Cooler Masters Hyper 6 at hand so I'll make good use of it.
