/blink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blink.gif' /> This answer may be posted here but i havent found it yet. Here's the deal:I have a socket 754 mb with a Amd 64/3200 cpu.The board has a burned out channel and instead of buying the same type board i bought a socket 939 mb an Asus A8V K8t800. NOW someone tell me this. The Asus A8V K8t800 mb supports pc3200 and i could get a socket 939 cpu @3200 standard or could i go up in the cpu? would the board support a higher cpu speed since its a standard 3200?I know i got to get another cpu. I suppose this is a silly question but HELP PLZ.

First, you need the soclet to be compatible...
you have a s939 CPU, so you need s939 mobo.
If you have s754 CPU, you must have s754 mobo.
The different is the HT and the Dual Channel support.

You should check the manufacturer's website to see if your new mobo support you CPU or not....but for most if it support 3200+, there should be no problem to suport some of the higher CPU with a BIOS update.
Manufacturer will test and post the CPU compatibility to their web. as the GIGABYTE have did this and I can check if my K8NSNXP-939 can support the CPU that higher then my current one (3500+).
