Hi,

There is this guy that needs an upgrade for his computer. Hes running a 2.7ghz celeron, 5200le and 512mb ram. He wants to play half life lost coast and all the new games and such. Now initially he went out looking to upgrade his video card to a 6800ultra which I believe would just be bottlenecked by his cpu. So I told him to get -

Amd 64 3000+ or 3200+
Gigabyte GA K8NF-9 or ASRock Dual-SATA2
x800GTO

Now hes on a tight budget of $400 or something and I think thats around the mark. He thinks he needs a 3500+ to run half life:lost coast because it says 2.2ghz and I said you will be fine but he wont believe me. So will this perform alright for his needs, I think he is getting another 512mb stick of ram too. Is there anything you would change?

Thanks

Actually that looks pretty good, see if 6800GS is out of price because it would beat the GTO for the price...

//edit NM, thought the GTO was the GTO2's price, looks pretty good to me.

hey man, my P4 system(Pentium 4 2.8GHz, 512RAM(at the time). 9600XT) could play HL2@1024x768 no problem. he defenitely doesnt need a 3500+.

that motherboard is great, i have, i love it.

about the video card...if hes only gonna b playing HL2 or games like that an X700Pro would b sufficient....i really like mine, and u can spend the money u save on the gfx card on more RAM...

Hes determined to have a good graphics card and he believes the x800gto is poor so I think I will tell him to get it over the x700 as that would take a lot to convince him to get.
