I'v got gotten my new overclocking system in the mail the 3000+ on the A8V Deluxe. I want to know how far can I overclock this baby everything below in my sig is what I'v got. I am on stock HSF, and I seen all this stuff about how the 3000+ are overclockable to the FX55's stock speeds.. I just don't want to over heat any suggestions on overclocking this bad boy would be helpful.

Got mine easily up to 2.6 but was on rocket cooler. My memory controller sucks on it otherwise I would try it on H2O. Tried it on differant mobo w/ differant ram and still can only do a best of 230 then I gotta bust out the memory divider.

Still at 1.8GHz at the moment it seems faster at stuff. I noticed my FPS did increase by 10 or 20 in some games. I haven't installed aquamark or 3dmark 2003. I started to download them but I have a wireless router and my internet for this computer is constantly going off. Also this maybe off topic but if you're running SLI and you have SLI mode enabled on you cannot overclock you're video card with the control panel that cool bits enabled. This only applies to the new 70.84 drivers.

Well the Asus A8V is not an overclocker's dream. I 've seen 275MHz HTT topps!!! I can't get more than 260MHz but i guess that's because my system is really heavy loaded.

If you are luck, you could get 2500MHz (9x278) but you can go for a 9x267 I guess pretty easily.

The A8V is a nice board, but max HTT speeds vary wildly between samples. The most I can get reliably (and even reliably changes day to day) is 240HTT. The RAID controllers are nice and quick, and the memory bandwidth is very good with the right RAM and latencies (experimenting right now, RAM as below @ CAS 2, 3-3-6, 5:3 divider, 240HTT for 2.4GHz core).

I'm opting out for an NForce 4 soon for better overclocking, but for basic turn-ups and good gaming / multimedia uses... it's a very sweet board indeed.

Yeah I don't want to overheat it though

When I was reading reviews for the A8V, saw one guy push his HTT to 289. Again, had ultra-low latency RAM, didn't have much in the way of drives or other things to suck up juice, but the Rev. 2 board with the PCI/AGP locks are great. It's probably one of the most overclockable VIA K8T800 Pro boards out there.

I'm happy with mine, anyways.
