I know an intel nut, he swears over and over Intel is the supreme ruler of the universe, it makes me sick, its like talking to an Apple or Linux nutter.

I still don't understand that mentality, myself. I mean, the company does not care about you, why should you care about the company. The only thing I can think of, is the human tendency to defend that which they own. But even then, it is still a bit beyond that.

It's like the age-old Tootsie Pop question; the world may never know.

Although, a lot of you guys are probably too young to know what I was just referring to, so I'll shut up now.

I'm 18 and I got that one. Not sure how young you have to be to not know that one.

But yes no corporation truly cares about an individual, despite what they all say.

If your adventeruous on the overclocking front, go for a dual core opteron, and overclock it, saves you money, and does everything the FX60 would do, minus the unlocked multiplier.

opty for teh w!n =)

Dual core is the way to go, as for the future you should be good for at least 3 to 5 years with what u buy today(maybe just 2 for high end games).

people who buy intels are people who watch too much tv,its amazing how when people see a commercial on tv <they gotta have it because its the best> lmao, just look at 3Dmark05 benchmarks at how the pentium 4s are at the very bottom of the list, you can beat a p4 in games with an athlon 3000+ for more than half as cheap on prices,it all boils down to stupidity,if all 100% of benchmarks show p4 getting spanked in games compared to any amd then theres your answer,

And in the mobile market, Dothan was the superior chip for a long time. Still beats Turions in quite a few aspects. Let's keep things in perspective here. Just because something is AMD, does not make it the best.

Also, the 3dMark benches are a poor basis for comparison. Until '06, the only thing that mattered was the GPU. You could bench a P2 system and a K8 system, and if they had the same video card, they'd get the same score (or very close).

The issue of "stupidity"...well, I hate to say it, but wrong again. Look here. For the first time, the cheapest AMD socket 939 processor is cheaper then the cheapest Intel dual core processor. But not by much. The general public doesn't know about performance, they only know that, for about the same money, you can get an AMD bottom of the line single core, or an Intel bottom of the line dual core. And they follow their wallet.

Plus, a lot of people here buy based on what Intel does for them. In New Mexico, we have a massive Intel plant (right here in Rio Rancho, actually). I coach for the local Special Olympics team, to which Intel donates a lot of money. They have provided schools all over the state with computers, schools that otherwise wouldn't have any. They funded and built the Rio Rancho high school, which is one of the most advanced high schools in the country.

AMD has a great idea with their 50x15 program, but if they want to increase their customer base, they need to look at more localized ideas, since America is one of the biggest consumer bases in the modernized world. People see Intel doing things locally, and they want to help support those who help support them.

It's a new core, Dark. CPU-Z isn't fully able to recognize it yet. It is also up to the bios writers to make a new bios that supports the reading from the new core. My gigabyte socket A board thinks my +12v line is 13v, and all software reports it that way. I have measured it with my multimeter though, and know it is nowhere near that high.

That may be, but it's not supposed to do that. At least, it doesn't on X2's and Intel dual cores. It just needs time, in future releases it will be better able to read it.

Probably someone who works for Intel, or has a contract with Intel. But yeah, they aren't out yet, and aren't going to be till at least the summer.
