The million dollar question is this: is the processor speed listed per core or as the sum of both cores?
The PR rating is a representation of how fast the CPU is with representation to a pentium 4, the listed operating speed is per core.
For instance, a 3800 X2 is 2ghz, per core, but only has 512kb L2 cache per core, totaling 1MB for the whole chip.
My Opty is 1800mhz per core(stock), and has 1MB of L2 per core, so L2 totals 2MB.
With respect to the PR number, the quality of the comparison to anything outside of any AMD chips doesnt really work anymore, so use the PR rating for comparing only AMD chips to AMD, and use benchmarks around the web to compare estimated performance compared to other chips
