I'm thinking of grabbing a soundcard before I leave the states as I'm still using onboard. How big of a difference would there be if I got an audigy? How big of a difference is there between an audigy and an audigy 4? Thanks, Zozio.

I'm still using onboard, so I don't know squat about sound cards, but if you're looking at Creative, check out the ebay Creative Labs Factory Store. They have great deals at times.

I was using onboard with my MSI K8N Neo2 Plat and strapped my old SB Live 5.1 in it and it made a huge difference, everything was so much clearer, only problem I had was hooking my surround sound up to my PC was easier with onboad because it had Optical Audio out.

I think I'm just going to go for the Audigy. Out of curiosity what speakers do you have?

Mmm... you're right. Maybe that should be put on lower priority. I was thinking of upgrading to 1gb ram

Turtle Beach cards are great cards...really cheap too. I'm very very satisfied with my Santa Cruz, my Rivera, and my Catalina from Turtle Beach. If I remember right, you can get a Riviera for like 30 bucks. 24-bit sound...not sure if it would compare to an Audigy se though...

Im getting the x230 only because I have a badass infinity surround sound with harman kardon reciever if I want it really really loud. But I want clarity and im too lazy to setup a 5.1+ system around my computer.

I would get an Audigy 2 ZS it makes a huge difference in games vs onboard sound and you can pick one up for around $40-$60 off ebay
