I constantly see ads for AMD processors but cannot find some kind of raw speed/performance comparison between these processors and equivalent Intel CPU's.

e.g. todays paper for Frys shows a Geode NX1750 desktop and a Athlon TM 64 3000+ motherboard. Now the desktop is $150 and the motherboard is $100, so clearly the Athlon is a better performance choice.

I have looked all around the internet for a comparison guide (including AMD site) but cannot find one.

Is the numeric value roughly a comparitive MHz speed rating? 1750 is similiar to an Intel 1750 MHz CPU?

TIA

the athon 3000+ is the cpu the geode nx1750 has to be the motherboard and the 3000+ would be equivalent to a intel 3.0ghz

felix, not true in this case

the geode is a full system with a geode cpu

the a64 3000+ is a combo with a ecs mobo for 99

simple as that

the a64 is the better proformance chip but you only get mobo and cpu, as the other is just a basic office type computer that is internet ready and i beleive runs the linspire OS
