First off, this thing was REALLY easy to install!

Some background info, my X800XL used to reach 85C full load with the stock cooler in my old HP (horrible case, no airflow), I could almost boil some eggs on it. Now, in my current build with the Cooler Master AMMO case (great case, great airflow), it topped at 72C with the stock cooler, and my overclock was limited to 432/1132 (stock is 400/980). Here is where the Zalman comes in...

I am now able to overclock it to 440/1150, with still a little more room on top. Here's the best part... It tops at 56C now!

Now for the pics...

Here's my X800XL before open heart surgery....

Crapsink removed...

R430...

Cleaned off that crap thermal paste, and placed the shiny new ramsinks...

And finally...

This thing is great, I'm very happy with it, and I obviously recommend it. Plus, it looks great, and the red LED matches the rest of my rig's guts.

Nice. You didn't include a pic of the finished, switched on thing. Post one!

The card right below the video card is the SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty. Notice the matching red light!

I'm gonna run 3DMark05 now and see how much it can beat my current highest score (5725) by. I already tried some games and I'm happy to say it can now run DOOM 3 maxed @ 1028x1024 with 4xAA, Quake 4 maxed @ 1280x1024 with 2xAA, and F.E.A.R. @ 1024x768, all on Max, volumetric lights ON (low), soft shadows obviously still off, and I was able to squeeze 2xAA on top!

twas naught but a score's days ago we ridiculed or fellow Fatl1ty, and now we embrace his horrific products...

Woe on me.

I couldn't care less about him as a person... The hardware is good, regardless of his name being on it or not.

EDIT:

Here's 3DMark05. I went up from 5725 to 5862, over 100 points, and that's also my 24/7 OC now!

Fatal1ty's version of the VF700 has a faster spinning fan, that's the only practical difference, everything else is just bling factor.

but it does look good Cougar, and the performance difference over the stock cooler speaks for itself. the VF700 is an amazing cooler no matter which version you buy.

Yea, exactly. It spins a bit faster (just a few more degrees off) and the color and LED are red, that's the difference. And yes, the performance definitely speaks for itself.

What's the max OC you can get out of your X800XL now, MrWicked? It was because of you that I got this... lol

I run mine everyday at 446 core/560 memory, idles at 36...it does get warm while gaming, but usually never gets higher than 50.

Do you still have any headroom or is the OC maxed?

I'm at 440 core and 575 (1150) memory right now as my 24/7, but both can still go up a little bit, I'm just playin' it safe.

I think the max by Ati Tray Tools is 460/575, but like you I back it down a bit.

how about u mod the hsf that came with it and add a 80mm 119CFM thermaltake fan on it... that should give a huge overclock but also make ur rig sound like a jet taking off.... but u have speed control and u can adjust it anyway...
