i am lammer for servers so please don't laugh
i read that opteron supports 2-way and 4-way servers

whats that 2-way/4-way ?

Opteron supports 2-way/4-way/8-way CPU..

2-way also called Dual Processors

4-way also called Quad Processors..

basically in dual prcoessor set up.. the board you get would have 2 CPU Sockets for 2 of the same Opteron CPUs.. running..

4-way means 4 CPUs..
and 8-way means 8 CPUs running under 1 box

those kind of set up is only recommended/required when dealing with complex calculations, server, video/audio encoding, graphics desiging.. and is a bug waste of money if you intend on it for only surfing the net or chatting .. or even playing games..
